Mystery, mayhem and murder of supernatural origin are once again threatening the good people of Chicago and the world as we know it. Not that the general population has any idea that Harry Blackstone Copperfield Dresden is on the job fighting back the forces of darkness.

Dead Beat finds Harry Dresden still recovering from his last major supernatural battle. His half brother Thomas Wraith (white vampire in recovery) has moved in with him and the puppy he adopted last year, Mouse.

Harrys powers seem to grow with every book. By now he can use of the Force more effectively than Yoda. Unfortunately no amount of magical power can protect Harry Dresden against blackmail. Nor would sexy, dirty money do the trick of paying off Marva, the darkest of vampires. No, Marva wants something called the Word of Kemmler, or she will destroy the career of Harrys close friend, sometime employer and unacknowledged love interest Karrin Murphy….

Narrator: James Marsters

James Marsters, voice of The Dresden Files, is probably best known for his portrayal of Spike on Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel the Series. While he has acted in both film and television, it was his extensive theatre background that made him the perfect choice for the challenging job of bringing the multi-faceted Dresden Files to audio. Far from simply reading the novel aloud, James infuses the text with scenes that live and breathe. He has given each of the characters their own unique voices, revealing their personalities and motivations with his extraordinary acting talent while maintaining both the pace and direction of the stories.
