Transferring MP3-CDs to iPods & other MP3 devices
From CD to iPod via iTunes
1. Insert the CD into the CD drive of your computer
2. Select all the tracks
3. On the top toolbar, click Advanced > Join Tracks
4. With the tracks still all selected, right-click them and select Get Info
5. At the bottom, check the box for Remember Position, and change the drop down menu to Yes.
6. In the Album field, enter the number of the CD you're importing ( for example if you're importing disc 1, type 01 ).
7. Repeat steps 1-6 with each CD
This will rip/copy the CD as one long track (about 1 HR 15 MIN), instead of ripping the CD into individual tracks Also, this will make the iPod remember your playback position, so if you stop listening to the book to listen to something else, when you return to your book, it'll remember where you left off. All you will need to remember is which disc you're on. Putting the disc number in the album field allows you to keep track of which one is which while you're importing. After you copy all the tracks, you may have to rename each one with something to identify which book it is if you have several on your iPod.
With this method, you'll still have to switch from track to track in about 75 minutes, but it's much better than dealing with very short tracks.
While the method on top is the fastest and surest way there is another way to handle this. You could download a program called Markable . This is a shareware program that is free for trial and 15.00 if you are happy with it and want to continue to use it past the trial period. It combines all of your tracks into one big bookmarkable audio book file. If the book is really long, you'll have to split it into a few large tracks.
From MP3-CD to iPod
Using a MP3-CD audio book with iPod on manual update.
Step 1: Insert the MP3-CD into the computer and open it to view the files, [My Computer]>>[CD drive letter].
Step 2: Open iTunes and connect iPod. In iTunes, browse to the iPod's music, [iPod name]>>[music].
Step 3: Select all files from the CD (ctrl+a) and click-and-drag/copy+paste into [iTunes]>>[iPod]>>[music].
If there is some difficulty taking the files straight from the CD to the iPod, it may be easier to copy the files to the computer first. Create a folder on the computer named the title of the book. Click-and-drag/copy and paste the files from the CD to this folder, then from there to the iPod
