Countdown to True Blood Season 4 ©June K. Williams So what should a Trubie do while waiting for their favorite supernatural show to air? Well if you are like me you might consider some of the following things. Get weekly calls from True Blood cast members reminding you to tune in. HBO is aware that “waiting sucks”. All you need to do is sign up for them on Facebook. Play a few rounds of a True Blood drinking game while watching reruns of last season’s episodes. There are many of these games available on the internet but why not create your own? It is a pretty good bet that there are a few things you notice the writers keep making the characters do that nobody else has noticed. Start with those and add the obvious like Jason or Alcide or Eric shirtless, Sookie losing her cool, Tara cussing or Lafayette flirting. Of course you can break those down to Sookie yelling at Bill or yelling at Eric or at Pam or Jason or Tara etc. If you are a stone cold Trubie, your drink could be Tru Blood possibly laced with something alcoholic. If you are too broke to order up a case of Tru Blood why not buy some Ribena (overly sweet black current drink) instead. I guarantee you that it has the look and consistency of the real thing but it is chock full of vitamin C. Make your pick as to who will be bedding who this season. There is one poster Showing Sookie surrounded by Bill, Eric and Alcide, so instead of a romantic triangle we are looking at a quadrangle. Does Sookie have that much energy what with working at Merlots and acting as a virtual VBI (Vampire Bureau of Investigation)? And beyond the Sookie connection who do you think will be the most improbable hook-up of the season? I adored Jessica and Hoyt and cheered for Lafayette and Jesus but I think we may be seeing things that really stretch boundaries this season. What is in the cards for Lafayette? He is one of the most entertaining characters on the show and I don’t want to see him wasted. I know they found him a love interest but everybody in this show is hooking up with everybody else. The jury is out on Jesus. At first I thought he was this super guy but now I’m worried he’ll lead our Lafayette down some very dangerous paths. airies and Witches and Vampires Oh My! Do you think you know who the Big Bad will be this season? Probably not. That shouldn’t keep you from guessing. There are new characters to consider. Tara’s new friend Naomi, an Asian-American cage fighter of all things, played Vedette Lim. Earl Stackhouse, Sookie’s grandfather who was thought to have been dead is being played by Gary Cole. Luna Garza, a shapeshifter played by Janina Gavankar. But the one most likely to have the greatest impact is Marnie , a witch played by Fiona Shaw. Marnie or should I say Hallow Stonebrook, is most likely to have a big impact on the residents of Bon Temps. Will that influence be good or evil? As the show doesn’t follow the books exactly, we can keep guessing. Wager with a fellow fan or two regarding who might come back from the dead this season. The casualty list is pretty extensive but I’m putting my money on Russell Edgington. If Eric could make it out of that cement why won’t the ever so much older and stronger King of Mississippi emerge from his “resting place”? It is hard to imagine Franklin ever reassembling after being turned to goo. Even less possible for poor Talbot whose remains literally went down the drain. Russell Edgington on the other hand has remarkable resilience and what is an extra layer of cement ? Petition for longer seasons. When Buffy was on the air you could count on a solid 22 episodes. That was enough to discuss till the following season, even without fanfic. True Blood has half that amount and it just isn’t enough. It does make summers nights holed up in air conditioned rooms more tolerable but it would be nice to see it go on well into the fall. by ©June K. Williams |
